Founded in 1999 by Charles St. Pierre in response to the growing popularity of speycasting for steelhead in the Pacific Northwest, Northwest Speycasting has introduced hundreds of new and experienced anglers to the benefits and techniques of speycasting from the steelhead rivers of Oregon to the salmon rich waters of Alaska. As a lifetime resident of Washington State, Charles has been fishing for steelhead, salmon, and trout for more than thirty years. In that time, Charles has found that the "Greased Line " technique of presenting the fly represents the most challenging and rewarding form of freshwater fishing. He believes, as do many other experienced steelhead and salmon anglers throughout the world, the use of a two handed rod is the most effective and efficient way to facilitate this presentation.
Charles is dedicated to the art and science of teaching both modern and traditional speycasting techniques. He understands that presenting this knowledge successfully requires patience, creativity, technical proficiency, and professional dedication to both sport and client. He is also very proud to be associated with some of the world's leading fly fishing manufacturer's such as Sage, Simms, Rio, Tibor, and Ross.
As well as an avid angler and casting instructor, Charles is also a proud member of Trout Unlimited, The Federation of Flyfishers, and The Puget Sound Flyfishers. He strongly believes the preservation and conservation of wild trout and salmon species, and their habitat here in North America, is paramount to the interests and survival of our sport for generations to come. |
